fun indoor games for kids
1. Freeze
Begin playing music, have everyone dance and move around while the music is playing. When the music stops then they must "freeze" in whatever position they happen to be in.
2. Animal Charades
Have one child come up to the front of the group and whisper the name of an animal to them. Have them act out what the animal does for the group. The rest of the kids try to guess what they are acting out.
(This works great with other themes too)
3. Pop-the-Balloon
1. Make one child the leader
2. Have all the children gather in a circle around that child, holding hands.
3. Have the leader child begin to blow as if they are blowing up a balloon.
4. As the leader blows the other children should begin to move away.
5. The circle expands getting larger and larger until the kids can no longer hold hands.
6. Once they get to far have them yell "POP" and fall down.
This is a great game for Toddlers.
4. Who Am I?
1. Tape a sheet of paper to each of the children’s backs that says an animal or object. (Do not tell the child what the paper says)
2. Let the kids taking turns asking each other yes and no questions about what they are. Explain that the first question they may want to ask is "Am I an animal or an object?"
3. At the end of the game each child takes a turn saying what they think they are.
5. Musical Chairs
- Arrange some chairs, back to back, in the center of the room, allowing one chair less than the number of players.
- Get someone (or yourself) to play a tune.
- At once the players should start to walk or run round the chairs, to the sound of the music.
- When the music stops, each player must try to find a seat, and as there is one chair short, someone will fail to do so, and is "out". He must carry a chair away with him.
- Keep repeating the instructions until there is only one person left in, with no chair to sit upon. This person has won the game.
