Shadow Puppets

Supplies needed:
     Poster board
     Scissors
     Masking tape
     Drinking straws
     A paper hole punch
     Paper fasteners
     A 34-by-18-inch piece of cardboard
     A craft knife
     A large sheet of white paper.

The Puppets

          1.   Cut out a character from poster board
              tip: if your child would like a specific character then simply trace it before cutting

2.                   2.  Tape a drinking straw handle to the back.

The Stage

          1.     Fold back the cardboard (about 45 degrees) 9 inches in from each side. 

          2.     Use the craft knife (let adult do) to cut out a large window in the center panel. 

          3.     Place the sheet of white paper up against the back of the window and tape
                  the edges in place.

Show Time

When it is Show Time, cover a table with a long tablecloth or sheet and set up the stage on the rear of the table so the kids can hide behind and operate their puppets. Then, set up a lamp behind the stage so the  shadows from the puppets will shine through.
