You won’t have to wait months or years to get the beautiful weathered look of a time-worn pot. Give new clay pots a vintage aesthetic in minutes using paint and a few simple steps!

Step 1:

 

A)   Randomly dab and swipe dark turquoise paint on the pot. Let some areas of the clay pot show through.

B)   Mix dark turquoise paint with white paint to create a light blue color.

C)   Randomly dab and swipe the light blue paint on the pot.

D)   Let some areas of the clay pot show through.

 

Step 2:

 

A)   Use a damp paper towel to blend the dark turquoise and light blue paint together.

B)   You can rub away paint in some areas and blend as you’d like to create a distressed look.

C)   Add more dark turquoise and light blue paint

D)   Rub to blend until you are happy with the result.

 

Step 3:

 

A)   Add baking soda to dark turquoise paint.

B)   Stir to create a chalk paint consistency. Note: Add more baking soda, if needed.

C)   Dab the thicker chalky paint onto the pot to add texture in random areas.

D)   When you are satisfied with the results, let the pot dry.

 

Step 4:

 

A)   Use sandpaper to distress the pot even further.

B)   Continue sanding until you are happy with the result.
